Saunas
Traditional sauna heaters draw significant load — typically 6–15 kW depending on the size of the unit — and require a dedicated circuit with an appropriately sized isolator and a hardwired connection.
Infrared saunas generally draw less — 1.5–4 kW — and some models are supplied with a standard plug suitable for a GPO. Others require a hardwired connection. We confirm the electrical requirements from the manufacturer specifications before installation.
Spas and Hot Tubs
Spas require careful electrical installation. Water and electricity in proximity demand correct RCD protection, correctly rated cable, appropriate conduit where wiring is run outdoors or underground, and compliance with the relevant Australian standards for electrical installations near water.
Outdoor Installations
Outdoor saunas and spas require wiring that is rated for outdoor and underground use, run in conduit where exposed, and protected by an RCD. All fittings and enclosures must be rated for outdoor use. We install outdoor-rated components as standard for any installation outside the building envelope.
Switchboard Capacity
A sauna or spa is a significant additional load. We check your switchboard capacity before running new circuits. Where capacity is insufficient, common in older homes, a switchboard upgrade is required. We quote this separately and clearly so you know the full cost before committing.

Any electrical installation near a pool or spa must be protected by a 30mA RCD. Wiring, outlets, and fittings within the defined zones around the water must also meet specific requirements under AS/NZS 3000.
Yes. If the sauna has been delivered and positioned, we connect it to the fixed wiring. We need the electrical specifications from the manufacturer before attending so we can confirm the circuit is correctly sized.
Yes. A Certificate of Electrical Safety is issued on completion of all electrical work. We provide a copy to you as the property owner.
