Path and Garden Feature Lighting
Path lights, garden spike lights, and in-ground uplights are typically low-voltage 12V LED fittings powered by a transformer. We install the transformer, run the low-voltage cable to each fitting location, and connect the fittings.
For feature lighting of trees, hedges, or architectural elements, we advise on fitting type and positioning at the quote stage to achieve the effect you are after.
Alfresco and Entertaining Area Lighting
Covered outdoor entertaining areas need correctly rated fittings, IP44 or higher for areas exposed to moisture. We install downlights, wall lights, pendant lights, and strip lighting in alfresco areas, running wiring through the ceiling cavity or in conduit as the construction permits.
Security and Sensor Lighting
Motion-activated sensor lights at entry points, gates, and car parks deter intruders and provide practical illumination when moving around the property at night. We install sensor floodlights and wall lights with RCD protection.
Outdoor Power Points
Outdoor power points for garden tools, outdoor appliances, and irrigation controllers must be weatherproof and RCD-protected. We install IP-rated weatherproof outlets in suitable locations, run from a dedicated or existing circuit as appropriate.
Timers and Automation
Garden lighting can be controlled by a timer, a dusk-to-dawn photocell, or a motion sensor. We install the control type that suits the application, a dusk-to-dawn sensor for path and feature lighting, a timer for a set schedule, or a motion sensor for security lighting.
Frequently Asked
Fittings in covered outdoor areas protected from direct rain need a minimum of IP44. Fittings exposed to direct rain or in wet areas such as near pools need IP65 or higher. We confirm the required rating for each location.
Solar lights are an option for low-intensity path and accent lighting where power is not readily available. For brighter, more reliable, or more precisely controlled lighting, a hardwired installation is more dependable, solar lights are affected by shade and battery degradation over time.
Yes. Pool and water feature lighting requires specifically rated underwater or wet-area fittings and must comply with the relevant Australian standards for electrical installations near water. We carry out this work to the required standard.
